Learning and Development Interview Questions and answers for Mathematics-1.

1). What is Mean, Mode and Median?

Solution

Answer:

The mean is the average of a collection of numbers or terms in a sequence. To calculate the mean use a formula is sum of total terms divided by number of terms.

The mode is the most frequent number or term in a sequence. It means the number that occurred highest number of times in a sequence. To find the mode arrange the numbers in ascending or descending order and verify which number repeated most number of times in a sorted sequence.

The median is the middle number/term where the sequence is arranged in ascending or descending order. If the sorted sequence have odd number of terms then divide by 2 and round up to get the position of the median number. If the sorted sequence have even number of terms then divide by 2  to get the position of the median number.

2). What is the Difference between Fractional and Rational number?

Solution

Answer:

A fraction is any number of the form a/b where both “a” and “b” are whole numbers and b≠0.

Rational number is a number which is in the form of p/q where both “p” and “q” are integers and q≠0.

Thus, a fraction is written in the form of m/n, where n is not 0 and m & n are whole (or natural numbers). For example, 20/33, 15/12, 12/50, 14/31. A rational number can also be written in the form of a/b, where b is not 0 and a & b are integers. For example, 15/7, 18/-13, 3/7, 6/12.

Consider the fraction 15/-42. It is a rational number but not a fractional number because its denominator (n) is not a natural number.

What is the Difference Between Fraction and Rational Number?

S.No.FractionRational Numbers
1.Written in the form of a/b, where a and b are whole numbers, and b≠0Written in the form of p/q, where p and q are integers, and q≠0
2. All fractional numbers are rational numbers. All rational numbers are not fractions.

3.

1/8,1/3,1/9, etc.

9/2, 13/4, etc.
4Note: Both are real numbers

3.What is Incenter ?

In geometry, the incenter of a triangle is a triangle centre, a point defined for any triangle in a way that is independent of the triangle's placement or scale.        The centre of the incircle of a triangle or other figure. or

The incenter is the point where all of the angle bisectors meet in the triangle.

For a triangle, an incenter can be obtained by drawing the angle bisectors of the    triangle and locate the point of intersection of these bisectors. This can be done    by using a compass.

4. How many real roots for x^4-1?

5. Number of diagonals for hexagon
6. Formula to calculate centroid of a traingle
7. Empirical formula for mean, mode, ans median

8) If the length of 2 sides of a triangle are l1& l2, the length of 3rd side is

(l1- l2), what is the area of the triangle?
9) If the compound interest is 10%, what would be the minimum number of years which will take to double the sum?
